The G 25 FFL has an optimised, double-coated fabric dome and a heavily damped surround, which together give a linear response, and its powerful magnet drive and ferrofluid-cooled voice coil provide high efficiency and power handling. This 8 Ω version takes 80 W with a 12 dB/oct. high-pass from 2000 Hz, gives 90 dB (1 W/1 m) and resonates at 1600 Hz.
Typical applications
- Tweeter for multi-way hi-fi speakers
- Speaker kit builds

Installation and cabinet guidance
Allow an 80 mm panel opening. The round faceplate is 104.5 mm in diameter, with 4.3 mm fixing holes countersunk to 8 mm on a 94 mm circle; mark them from the unit itself rather than assuming the spacing. Behind the panel allow about 24 mm for the 75 mm rear housing, plus room for the terminals and the wiring.
Mount it on a rigid baffle with a continuous seal between the faceplate and the panel, tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal so the faceplate is not distorted, and keep the dome clear of any grille. It is heavy for a dome tweeter, so make sure the baffle and the fixings can carry it. Connect to the 4.8 x 0.8 mm (+)/2.8 x 0.8 mm (-) blade terminals with matching push-on connectors and observe polarity; the two blade widths identify it. The power ratings apply only with a 12 dB/oct. high-pass filter, and they depend on where it is set: 80 W from 2000 Hz, or 120 W from 4000 Hz. Feed it through the system crossover or a high-pass filter that gives at least that protection; never connect it directly to a full-range signal. Use an amplifier suitable for the 8 Ω load.
Visaton lists the WG 148 R and WG 220x150 waveguides as accessories for this tweeter and offers a protective grille for the dome. A waveguide changes both the dispersion and the response, so allow for that when setting the crossover.
