As a result, the bass range below 100 Hz is best covered by a subwoofer (e.g. SUB-W 20.39 ).\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tThis combination with a powerful subwoofer means that the PORTRAIT set-up is a visually appealing and acoustically highly effective system which can, if required, be extended. If the wall space in front of and behind the listening position are free, additional PORTRAIT speakers can be hung to produce a multi-channel system for home theatre and music.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tThe point about the PORTRAIT is the option of fitting a fabric front to the cabinet which can vary, depending on the surroundings, e.g. single-coloured or brightly coloured silk. Of course, one can always put one's creative skills to work and make one's own silk covers adorned with favourite motifs. There are no limits to your imagination.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cb\u003eConstruction\u003c\/b\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tThe cabinet consists of two panels (front and rear panels) and narrow strips to make up the remaining sides. Add to this a frame for clamping the fabric which is removable and simply pressed into place. The nine strips arranged as a rectangle are crucial to strengthen the large-scale construction and are glued onto the rear panel with the side strips. The front panel is not glued but screwed to enable you to insert the crossover and damping material in the cabinet.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tIt is possible to make the cabinet even slimmer then shown in the drawing. The depth can be reduced to 34 mm if 14 mm strips are used for both the sides and strengthening struts. In that case, it is necessary to cut out a 5 mm deep recess behind the tweeter in addition to the existing opening for the magnet of the woofer. The crossover will also have to be let into the rear panel by 5 mm.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tFor reasons of appearance, no terminal connections are used. The cable is soldered directly to the crossover. The cable is led out through a small hole in the base and concealed in a cable duct on the wall. It is even more aesthetically pleasing if the cable comes through the rear panel and completely hidden in the plaster or a false wall.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tThe two drivers are recessed when mounted (4 mm) to enable the fabric cover to be in contact with the front panel. A thin silk material is ideal for the fabric covers. Linen and other firmer fabrics are less permeable to sound and will result in a noticeable reduction in the sound output in the higher range so they are not suitable. The front panel should be painted black to prevent the outlines of the dark drivers showing through the thin fabric cover.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\t\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\tTo fit the speaker to the wall, drill and plug two holes in the wall and screw in two screws, but leave approx. 11 mm of the screws protruding. His friend, August Jaeger, tried to cheer him up by reminding him that Ludwig van Beethoven, despite serious worries, continued to write fascinating pieces of music. In terms of acoustics, however, we have used such state-of-the-art drivers as the highly praised \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/impactaudio.co.uk\/collections\/visaton-hifi-drive-units\/products\/visaton-b-100-6-ohm?_pos=1\u0026amp;_sid=c861349eb\u0026amp;_ss=r\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eB 100 - 6 Ohm\u003c\/a\u003e to achieve the best possible results. This is also the reason why we opted for the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/impactaudio.co.uk\/products\/visaton-g25-ffl-8-ohm-25mm-fabric-dome-driver\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eG 25 FFL - 8 Ohm\u003c\/a\u003e fabric dome tweeter, equipped with a waveguide and meticulously adapted to the radiation characteristics of the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/impactaudio.co.uk\/collections\/visaton-hifi-drive-units\/products\/visaton-b-100-6-ohm?_pos=1\u0026amp;_sid=c861349eb\u0026amp;_ss=r\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eB 100 - 6 Ohm\u003c\/a\u003e. The off-centre positioning of the medium to high-frequency unit further optimises the radiation pattern and is unusual for loudspeakers of this type. The bass foundation, and with it the much appreciated mellow aspect of the British models is accounted for by the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/impactaudio.co.uk\/products\/visaton-gf-200-2-x-4-ohm-20-cm-8ins-high-end-woofer\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eGF 200 - 2 x 4 Ohm\u003c\/a\u003e woofer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhy Nimrod?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNIMROD is the 9th variation of the orchestral work entitled \"Enigma\" by the British composer Edward Elgar, which was dedicated to one of his closest friends, the German August Jaeger. The name is a play on words, as the biblical Nimrod was a great hunter, and the German word \"Jaeger\" means \"hunter\", and reflects an episode that happened between these two great friends. At the end of the 19th century, Elgar was in a depressed state, \"very ill at heart with music\", and was considering giving up composing. His friend, August Jaeger, tried to cheer him up by reminding him that Ludwig van Beethoven, despite serious worries, continued to write fascinating pieces of music. This led to the first bars of Nimrod and to Elgar continuing to compose music.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis British-German friendship through music was the decisive factor in the naming of the NIMROD and also shows our long-standing connection to British colleagues and friends, which we would like to celebrate with the NIMROD.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat does the NIMROD \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003esound like? One might be tempted to describe it as the perfect British-German combination. On the one hand, you have the mellifluous, room-filling sound of the British loudspeakers from times gone by, but on the other hand, you also have the high-grade precision of modern German engineering. The lower-frequency bass is not affected. Increasing the resistance affects the bass output: 10 ohms for a minimal reduction in bass and 3.3 ohms for maximum reduction. Three 8 mm holes will have to be drilled in the rear wall of the mid-range chamber for the cables. They should not be drilled directly behind the driver because otherwise there will not be enough depth available for the wires behind the magnets. The mounting board for the TIW 250 (380 x 283 with a 235 mm cut-out) itself is glued in place from inside behind the cut-outs in the corresponding side-wall. The adjustment unit is mounted on the crossover unit directly parallel to the woofer and enables to listener to adjust the output level between 70 Hz and 150 Hz. The lower-frequency bass is not affected. Increasing the resistance affects the bass output: 10 ohms for a minimal reduction in bass and 3.3 ohms for maximum reduction. In the middle, there are five cross-reinforcements to prevent resonance. At the top of the cabinet, behind the cut-out in the acoustic baffle for the mid- to high-range unit, is the enclosure required for the mid-range cone, made up of two wooden boards. Three 8 mm holes will have to be drilled in the rear wall of the mid-range chamber for the cables. They should not be drilled directly behind the driver because otherwise there will not be enough depth available for the wires behind the magnets. The holes must be well sealed afterwards. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Fitting the TIW 250 XS into the side is a special feature. The mounting board for the TIW 250 (380 x 283 with a 235 mm cut-out) itself is glued in place from inside behind the cut-outs in the corresponding side-wall. This means that the bass driver can be recessed by 19 mm (19 mm = thickness of the boards).
