Description

The HX 10 sets a high-quality tweeter at the centre of an extremely light, stiff aluminium cone, driven by a neodymium magnet, with an integrated grille and the two-way crossover housed under a plastic cap on the rear. This 4 Ω version takes 40 W rated power, covers 50–22000 Hz with its crossover at 4300 Hz and gives 81 dB (1 W/1 m).

Installation and cabinet guidance

Allow a 101 mm panel opening. The frame is 126.5 mm in diameter, with 4.2 mm fixing holes countersunk to 7 mm on a 114 mm circle; mark them from the unit itself rather than assuming the spacing. Behind the panel allow about 62 mm for the 90 mm rear housing and crossover cap, plus room for the terminals and the wiring; the cone and its grille stand in front of the panel, so the unit is 80.5 mm deep overall.

Mount it on a rigid baffle with a continuous seal between the frame and the panel, tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal so the frame is not distorted, and keep the integrated grille clear of any fascia or additional grille. Take care not to press on the grille or the aluminium cone while you are fitting it. Connect to the 5.2 x 0.8 mm (+)/2.8 x 0.8 mm (-) blade terminals with matching push-on connectors and observe polarity; the two blade widths identify it. The two-way crossover is built in under the rear cap, so the unit connects directly to the amplifier as one full-range speaker (crossover frequency 4300 Hz) and needs no external network; leave the cap in place and use an amplifier suitable for the 4 Ω load.
