The TIW 250 XS uses a low-resonance sandwich diaphragm of fibreglass and polyester fabric, an extra-wide rubber surround and a cast aluminium basket, with a long 50 mm voice coil and multiple venting to keep losses and flow noise down. This 8 Ω version handles 200 W rated power, allows ±14 mm of excursion and resonates at 33 Hz.
Typical applications
- High-end hi-fi systems
- Large multi-way speaker systems

Installation and cabinet guidance
Allow a 235 mm panel opening for a 276 mm frame, with the fixing holes on a 264 mm circle and 5.2 mm holes countersunk to 9 mm. Behind the panel leave about 115 mm of clear depth for the basket and the 155 mm magnet, with room beyond that for the terminals and the wiring.
At 5.3 kg the driver needs a rigid, well braced baffle and is easier to fit with a second pair of hands. Use a continuous gasket or sealing strip between the frame and the panel and tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal, so the cast frame is not distorted. With ±14 mm of travel available, check that the cone and the wide rubber surround stay clear of the grille and of any internal bracing at full excursion. Connections are by spring terminals, so strip only as much insulation as the clamp needs, make sure each conductor is gripped firmly, observe polarity and use an amplifier or crossover suited to the 8 Ω load.
Visaton's published enclosure suggestions for this driver: 30 l closed (fc 59 Hz, Qtc 0.59); 50 l closed (fc 50 Hz, Qtc 0.5); 70 l closed (fc 46 Hz, Qtc 0.46); 30 l bass reflex with one BR 15.34 port cut to 13 cm (fb 42 Hz); 50 l bass reflex with one BR 15.34 port cut to 12 cm (fb 36 Hz); 70 l bass reflex with one BR 15.34 port cut to 9 cm (fb 32 Hz).
