The AL 130 uses a stiff anodised aluminium cone in a cast aluminium basket, with an elastic rubber surround, a vented pole plate and vented damper, an impedance control ring and a long-stroke voice coil for a large linear excursion. This 8 Ω version takes 60 W rated power, resonates at 43 Hz and allows ±8.5 mm of excursion.
Typical applications
- Three-way hi-fi speakers (bass/midrange)
- High-end hi-fi systems

Installation and cabinet guidance
Allow a 115 mm panel opening for a 153 mm frame, with the fixing holes on a 141 mm circle and 4.3 mm holes countersunk to 8.3 mm. Behind the panel leave about 58 mm of clear depth for the basket and the 85 mm magnet, with room beyond that for the terminals and the wiring. Mark the fixing holes from the driver itself rather than setting them out by measurement.
Mount it on a rigid baffle with a continuous gasket or sealing strip between the frame and the panel, and tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal so the cast frame is not pulled out of shape. With ±8.5 mm of travel available, check that the cone and the rubber surround stay clear of the grille and of any internal bracing at full excursion. The terminals take 4.8 x 0.8 mm blades on the positive side and 2.8 x 0.8 mm on the negative, so blade size identifies polarity; observe it and use an amplifier or crossover suited to the 8 Ω load.
Visaton's published enclosure suggestions for this driver: 5 l closed (fc 81 Hz, Qtc 0.72); 10 l bass reflex with a BR 6.8 port (fb 48 Hz); 20 l bass reflex with a BR 19.24 port (fb 38 Hz).
