The W 100 S pairs a coated paper cone with an elastic rubber surround and a 20 mm voice coil, and its balanced response suits it either to woofer duty in small enclosures or to the low-midrange band of a larger system. This 8 Ω version handles 30 W rated power, resonates at 63 Hz and has a d.c. resistance of 6.7 Ω.
Typical applications
- Compact hi-fi speakers
- Three-way hi-fi speakers (bass/midrange)
- Subwoofer and satellite systems

Installation and cabinet guidance
Allow a 94 mm cut-out for a frame that measures 122 mm across, with the fixing holes on a 111 mm circle for 3.7 mm screws; mark the hole positions from the driver itself before drilling. Behind the baffle allow about 48 mm of clear depth for the basket and its 70 mm magnet, with room beyond that for the terminals and the wiring.
Fit it to a rigid baffle with a continuous gasket or sealing strip between the frame and the panel, and tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal so the frame is not pulled out of shape. Check that the cone and the rubber surround stay clear of the grille and of any internal bracing. Allow for the ±4 mm of cone travel where a grille sits close to the cone.
The terminals take 4.8 x 0.8 mm blades on the positive side and 2.8 x 0.8 mm on the negative, so blade size identifies polarity. Use matching push-on connectors, observe polarity, insulate the joints and keep the wiring clear of the moving parts, and choose an amplifier or crossover suited to the 8 Ω load.
Visaton's published enclosure suggestions for this driver: 4 l closed (fc 96 Hz, Qtc 0.82); 5 l bass reflex with one BR 6.8 port cut to 6 cm (fb 70 Hz); 10 l bass reflex with one BR 6.8 port cut to 5 cm (fb 56 Hz).
