The W 130 S combines a coated paper cone with an elastic rubber surround and a 25 mm voice coil, and its even response lets it serve either as a woofer or as the low-midrange driver of a large three-way design. This 8 Ω version takes 50 W rated power, resonates at 52 Hz and has a d.c. resistance of 6 Ω.
Typical applications
- Two-way hi-fi speakers
- Three-way hi-fi speakers (bass/midrange)
- Large multi-way speaker systems

Installation and cabinet guidance
Allow a 109 mm cut-out for a frame that measures 146 mm across, with the fixing holes on a 135 mm circle for 4.5 mm screws; mark the hole positions from the driver itself before drilling. Behind the baffle allow about 53 mm of clear depth for the basket and its 70 mm magnet, with room beyond that for the terminals and the wiring.
Fit it to a rigid baffle with a continuous gasket or sealing strip between the frame and the panel, and tighten the fixings evenly and only enough to seal so the frame is not pulled out of shape. Check that the cone and the rubber surround stay clear of the grille and of any internal bracing. Allow for the ±8 mm of cone travel where a grille or fascia sits close in front.
The terminals take 4.8 x 0.8 mm blades on the positive side and 2.8 x 0.8 mm on the negative, so blade size identifies polarity. Use matching push-on connectors, observe polarity, insulate the joints and keep the wiring clear of the moving parts, and choose an amplifier or crossover suited to the 8 Ω load.
Visaton's published enclosure suggestions for this driver: 7 l closed (fc 86 Hz, Qtc 0.77); 20 l bass reflex with one BR 6.8 port cut to 4 cm (fb 44 Hz); 30 l bass reflex with one BR 19.24 port cut to 12 cm (fb 39 Hz).
