Description

The FR 13 WP is a saltwater-resistant full-range driver with a moulded plastic cone, basket and grille, corrosion-resistant and waterproof thanks to the encased magnet and silicone-coated leads. Its IP65 and IP67 protection applies to the front when it is built into a sealed enclosure. This black 4 Ω version handles 25 W, gives 85 dB (1 W/1 m) and is rated for −40 to 80 °C.

Installation and cabinet guidance

Allow for a 112 mm panel opening. The round flange is 150.5 mm in diameter with four 4.5 mm fixing holes, countersunk to 8 mm, on a 136 mm circle; mark them from the unit itself rather than assuming the spacing. Behind the panel allow about 41.5 mm for the 111 mm basket and its 69.5 mm magnet cup, plus room for the terminals and the wiring; the unit is 61 mm deep overall including the grille, so check the clearance behind any fascia or trim and keep the grille clear.

The IP65 and IP67 protection applies to the front of the driver only, and only when it is built into a sealed enclosure; the rear is open to the enclosure. Seal the joint between the flange and the panel, for which a matching gasket, part 2115, is available, and protect the rear from water and dust; bonding the driver in and fitting a front cover or grille may be needed to complete the protection. Fit the gasket dry and tighten the fixings evenly so the flange is not distorted. Run the cable so that water cannot track along it into the enclosure, and leave a drip loop where it is exposed. Operating temperature range −40 to 80 °C.

Connect to the 4.8 x 0.8 mm (+)/2.8 x 0.8 mm (-) blade terminals with matching push-on connectors and observe polarity; the blades differ in width, so the wider blade identifies the positive. Use an amplifier suitable for the 4 Ω load and keep the drive within the 25 W rating (60 W maximum). For a 100 V line system, connect through a suitable line transformer; do not connect the driver directly to the line.

This is the black version; the white version is part 2113. Check the impedance and the colour against the amplifier and the installation before ordering.
