Description

The FR 6.5 uses a tweeter cone and a rising high-frequency response to support clear sound reinforcement. Its impregnated cone resists moisture, and the decoration ring can be removed to suit the mounting arrangement. The 8 Ω driver handles 40 W rated power and is suitable for ceiling speakers and electronic musical instruments.

Installation and cabinet guidance

Allow for a 143 mm opening, a 171 mm outer diameter and the fixing positions shown in the drawing. Support the basket securely and leave room for the rear terminals. Keep the rear and connections dry; the treated cone does not make the whole installation waterproof.

Mount on a rigid panel with a continuous seal around the frame to prevent air leaks and rattles. Keep the cone and surround clear of the grille and internal parts.

Use an amplifier suitable for the 8 Ω load and follow the polarity marks. Check blade width and thickness before choosing connectors, insulate the connections and secure the wiring clear of the moving parts.

For a 100 V line system, connect through a correctly rated line transformer; do not connect this low-impedance driver directly to the line.

Use this impedance version’s enclosure parameters when developing a cabinet, and test the response at the intended listening level. Allow for the volume occupied by the driver and keep damping material clear of the cone and terminals.
