Description

The SL 87 ND combines a plastic cone and rubber surround with a lightweight neodymium magnet. Its 88 dB sensitivity suits speaker columns and small hi-fi systems, while the 110 g assembly helps keep equipment weight down. The 8 Ω driver handles 10 W rated power and supports front-side IP64 protection when sealed into an enclosure.

Installation and cabinet guidance

Allow for an 80 mm opening and 84.4 mm square frame. Leave room for the 40 mm overall depth and the projecting connectors; align the slotted fixing holes before drilling.

Seal the mounting joint into a sealed enclosure and protect the rear and terminals from moisture. IP64 applies to the front only; adhesive and a front grille may be needed to complete the seal.

Use an amplifier suitable for the 8 Ω load and follow the polarity marks. Check blade width and thickness before choosing connectors, insulate the connections and secure the wiring clear of the moving parts.

Test the driver in the intended enclosure before fixing the cabinet design. Keep the rear acoustic space clear and check low-frequency cone travel at the intended operating level; a small driver’s usable bass depends on the enclosure and required output.
