The K 28 WPC is a 2.8 cm miniature speaker with a plastic diaphragm (Mylar), giving a balanced response and good voice reproduction in very small devices. It is functional at cold to EN 60068-2-1/EN 50155, and its IP65 protection applies to the front when it is built into a sealed enclosure. This 50 Ω version handles 1 W and gives 76 dB (1 W/1 m).
Typical applications
- Monitoring speaker for electronic devices
- Voice and signal output in small devices

Installation and cabinet guidance
No cut-out diameter is published for this driver: the round frame is 28 mm in diameter (25.5 mm behind the flange) and the unit is 5.4 mm deep overall, including the 1 mm flange, with a 16 mm magnet. Size the opening from the unit itself. The frame has no fixing holes, so it is normally bonded or clamped in place; check the method against your enclosure design and keep the clamping even all round. Leave clearance behind the panel for the solder joints and their leads.
The IP65 protection applies to the front of the driver only, and only when it is built into a sealed enclosure; the rear is open to the enclosure. Mount it on a flat panel with a continuous seal around the frame and protect the rear from water and dust; bonding the driver in and fitting a front cover or grille may be needed to complete the protection. Check that the panel face is clean and true where the seal beds down, and seal the cable entry as well, since the rear protection comes from the enclosure rather than from the driver. Operating temperature range −40 to 70 °C.
Solder to the solder joints on the rear, observe polarity and keep the leads clear of the moving parts. Use a suitable iron and keep the soldering time short so that heat is not conducted into the driver. Support the leads so that they cannot pull on the joints. Use an output stage suitable for the 50 Ω load and keep the drive within the 1 W rating (2 W maximum).
This is the 50 Ω version; the 8 Ω version is part 2809. Check the impedance against the amplifier and the installation before ordering.
