Description

The K 36 WP is a 3.6 cm miniature speaker with a plastic basket and diaphragm, giving a balanced response and good voice reproduction. It suits outdoor applications and conditions such as high humidity, and its IP65 protection applies to the front when it is built into a sealed enclosure. This 8 Ω version handles 1 W and is rated for −40 to 70 °C.

Installation and cabinet guidance

Allow for a 31 mm panel opening. The round plastic frame is 36 mm in diameter (33.8 mm behind the flange) and the unit is 6.2 mm deep overall (6.5 mm at most), including the 1.5 mm flange. The frame has no fixing holes, so it is normally bonded or clamped in place; check the method against your enclosure design and keep the clamping even all round. Leave clearance behind the panel for the solder joints and their leads.

The IP65 protection applies to the front of the driver only, and only when it is built into a sealed enclosure; the rear is open to the enclosure. Mount it on a flat panel with a continuous seal around the frame and protect the rear from water and dust; bonding the driver in and fitting a front cover or grille may be needed to complete the protection. Run the cable so that water cannot track along it into the enclosure, and leave a drip loop where it is exposed. Operating temperature range −40 to 70 °C.

Solder to the solder joints on the rear, observe polarity and keep the leads clear of the moving parts. Use a suitable iron and keep the soldering time short so that heat is not conducted into the driver. Support the leads so that they cannot pull on the joints. Use an amplifier suitable for the 8 Ω load and keep the drive within the 1 W rating (2 W maximum).

This is the 8 Ω version; the 50 Ω version is part 2913. Check the impedance against the amplifier and the installation before ordering.
